As imaging centers begin to rely less on film and move towards the use of
digital storage, there has been an increased use in the distribution of medical
images on CD or DVD. Although this technological shift has a direct advantage
for image consolidation, it has also created a particular problem of accurately
importing foreign images from outside facilities into your PACS system.
With the DICOMImporter software tool, you can easily import patient studies
onto your PACS system from either DICOM or non-DICOM files. This easy to use
automated solution allows you to place the patient¡¦s disc into any PC and
import immediately onto your own system. Since the DICOMImporter is always
running and monitors the CD/USB drive for disks, it will automatically (if in
auto-mode) import the patients¡¦ images into the PACS or default destination.
You have the capability to import DICOM images from Hard Disk, Shared folder,
CD, DVD, USB Storage and FTP locations.
The DICOMImporter effortlessly allows you to import non-DICOM images and
convert them to DICOM format. Import JPEG, JPEG2000, GIF, BMP, PDF, DOC and
readily convert to DICOM while importing. This solution will help you to import
images from non-DICOM devices so that you may consolidate all your patient
images into one single usable format.
With the DICOMImporter you can also manipulate Patient/Study information
before you import. In the case that a patient has a different patient ID, you
can simply modify the patient DICOM header information before importing into
your PACS.
The DICOMImporter allows you to query any archive based on a fuzzy search of
patient name, ID etc. Immediately upon importing the images, DICOMImporter
displays a list of all images and presents the option to user to either select
existing headers from archive, or the user can easily modify each DICOM image
header. It then also allows the user to click on a button and query a remote
modality based on wildcard matching of PatientID, PatientName or DOB etc, which
will present him a list of matches form the remote modality. This sharp-witted
technology provides the user with the ability to select and verify patient
headers on images before they are pushed out to the modality. The Query Modality
and the Target Push Modality could be same. This allows you to update the
archive with images from disks while also avoiding the import of duplicate
images.
